Competitive Program
PCRA has competitive Masters of all abilities, from those that have rowed through college and on the national level, to individuals who have discovered a new sport and enjoy the camaraderie of regattas and the challenge of competition. Practice times in the Spring, Summer, and Fall are held weekdays at 5:30am OR 7:15am. Winter practice times for the masters competitive program are at 6am OR 7:30am.
Our competitive masters program runs every season, all year round. In Spring, Summer, and Fall masters in the competitive program have the opportunity to travel to and participate in regattas against other masters rowers from all across the country. Winter training takes place at our brand new Studio location and involves training on ergs, Concept2 ski ergs, and full body free weight training. Once a week winter practice takes place at Iona’s athletic facility where we can take stokes in their indoor rowing tank. Our competitive masters are invited to participate in our annual indoor rowing competition, the St. Valentine’s Day Regatta in February.
Recreational Program
Our Masters Intermediate/Recreational program is for those rowers who have some experience with rowing but are not yet ready or who are not interested in rowing competitively. The course offers coached instruction typically in shells designed for two or four people, as well as singles rowing. Spring, Summer, and Fall practice times are weekdays at 7:15am. This is a great course for practicing and improving your skill in a fun and friendly environment.
