Youth Winter Programming
Race Team Winter Training

PCRA’s coaching staff consider winter training to be the most important season for the success of our programs. Our tailored training will be structured to optimize rowing fitness and technique, making it competitive with the best programs in the country. Direct hands-on coaching and a focus on erg training will be crucial for our athletes’ development as rowers. One session for Race Team Girls and one session for Race Team Boys. Training will take place at the PCRA indoor space. Practices will be held six days per week.

Dates:
Winter training kicks off in 2 weeks. The season continues through March 4, with a 2-week break over the holidays.

November 29, 2021 - March 4, 2022
Break from December 18 - January 2

Winter Break: Select crews may be invited to travel to Florida for a training trip during the week of February 21. We will evaluate whether it is safe to take this trip based upon the pandemic situation at that time.

Vaccine Requirement: We welcome our rowers back to in-person workouts at the Studio. Our staff is 100% vaccinated.  Per the governor’s mandate, all rowers in our studio are required to send proof of vaccination to admin@pcrarowing.com upon registration.

Development Team Winter Training

The Development Team will be a two day a week program. We will focus on improving rowing aptitude with workouts both on and off the rowing machine. This will allow our developing athletes to gain endurance and muscle while receiving hands-on technical coaching that will contribute to on-the-water success. This program will allow our younger and newer athletes to master the fundamentals of the stroke and build fitness before joining our competitive programs. Level 1 (Tuesday / Thursday) is designed for kids who are newer to the sport. Level 2 (Monday / Wednesday) is designed for kids who are ready for an advanced program. Parents should register their rower for the team they were given placement for by coaches this fall. If you are new to PCRA or unsure about team placement, email brittany@pcrarowing.com.

Winter training will be held at our Studio in Pelham. The goals of the program are to introduce rowing to newcomers, improve technique for less experienced rowers, increase flexibility & conditioning, injury prevention, and continuing to learn what it takes to be an effective rower!
